Crime is a way for males to achieve and express their masculinity, create hegemonic masculinity identities when non criminal means such as work, family etc are not available, access to hegemonic masculinity and be limited for certain groups

Labelling, men stereotyped as more violent than women, can cause self fulfilling prophecy
