Mortality stats foe aki and malignancy
MORTALITY IN DIALYSIS PATIENTS
About one in
four patients with ESRD started on dialysis will die in the first year,
with the peak risk of death occurring at month 3.2
The 6‐month mortality rate
for those with severe AKI was 75%. The mortality rate for those
with uncontrolled recurrence or progression of their malignancy was
92%.7

cancer consistently predicts a survival of less than 1 year in ESRD
patients3 and dialysis patients with an active malignancy have a
greater odds of mortality at 6 months4

2 Hemiplegia, moderate, or severe renal disease, diabetes with end organ damage (or brittle diabetes), tumor without metastases, leukemia, and lymphoma
3 Moderate to severe liver disease
