General physiology Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
When will GFR be affected
A
- pregnancy
- diurnal rhythm (higher in the afternoon than midnight)
- During exercises it drops
- In patients with reduced renal reserve, GFR will be lower in fasting than in fully hydrated state
2
Q
How should proteinuria be quantified and what is the normal range
A
uACR (mg/mmol or mg/g) or uPCR
uACR normal = <2.5 in male <3.5 in female
uPCR normal = <50
30mg/mmol ACR = 50mg/mmol PCR
3
Q
What are the non-renal causes of proteinuria
A
- fever
- exercise
- skin disease
- Lower UTI
4
Q
what kind of acid base disorder is renal failure associated with and RTN associated with
A
Renal failure = HAGMA
RTN = NAGMA
5
Q
What are the possible causes of hematuria
A
Urinary infection
acute GN
igA nephropathy
prostatic hypertrophy
Renal calculi
Urinary tract malignancy
