Peritonitis causes

A

Localised - caused by inflammation of the underlying organ

Generalised:

  • Can be caused by perforation of an abdominal organ e.g. perforation duodenal ulcer or ruptured appendix
  • Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (infection of ascites in liver disease)
