Q

calculating biodiversity

A
  • one way in which scientists calculate geetic biodiversity is by measrung polymorphism.
-polymorhic genes have more than one allele, most gees are monomorphic (only oe allele exists for that gene)
  • the greater the polymorhic gene loci, the greater genetic biodiversity of that population.

Q

genetic biodiversity

A
  • all members of a species share the same genes, thoguht they may have different versions of these genes (alleles)
  • the differences in the alleles among individuals creates genetic biodiversity.
  • the more alleles in a population the more genetically biodiveres it is.
  • important as thye are more likely to adapt to changes in their enviroment.
