What are a gene and locus(remember exactly)?
A
Gene - A section of DNA bases that codes for a polypeptide or functional RNA
Locus - the region where a gene is found

What are the 3 features of the genetic code?
A
Degenerate - multiple codons code for the same amino acid
Non-overlapping - each base in the sequence is only read once
Universal - in all organisms the same codon codes for the same amino acid

What is an allele?
A
An alternative form of a gene

What are homologous chromosomes?
A
1 set of the chromosomes are maternal, while the other is paternal. They carry the same genes but not the same alleles.
