E side of narrows
From pt. D to near days island e shore of narrows consists of high bold bluffs
Pt. Evan’s
2 miles south of pt. D on W side of narrows. Marked by a light
Power cables
200 yds south of pt Evan’s . With 200ft clearance
Tacoma narrows bridge
Highways suspension bridge crosses the narrows a mile S of pt. Evan’s. 180ft clearance at center and 160ft clearance at piers
Days island
4.5 miles south of pt. D. Three marinas here with a total of about 200 Berths
Hale passage
Between fox island and mainland. Entrance just south of pt fosdick. 4 miles long. Fixed highway bridge crosses pass near w end with 31ft clearance
Fox island
Tall wooded island about 4miles long with many homes and private piers along water fronts.
Tangle wood island
Small island on the NE side of fox island in the center of a cove. Prominent structure on N end resembles lighthouse
Gibson pt
The S tip of fox island and the N entrance to carr inlet. Marked by a light
Tolivia shoal
Nearly mid channel .9nm S of Gibson pt. Consists of two rocks covered about 2fathoms deep and marked by a lighted bell buoy
Carr inlet
Between fox island and McNeil island, extends about 6miles NW and the. Trends NNE for 8 miles terminating in flats at the head
Washington state pen
Permanently closed prison on SE side of McNeil island. Prominent when viewed from offshore
Pitt passage
Between key peninsula and McNeil island, connects drayton passage and Carr inlet. It is obstructed about midway of its length by Pitt island and it’s surrounding rocks and shoals
Lake bay
At head of mayo cove on the SW shore of carr inlet, is a village with a store and several small private piers. The marina has a long pier and floats with 35 berths
Home
Village on W side of Vin Geldern cove, has a store and service station. Bridge crosses cove at its head
Horse head bay
About 1 mile long, N of green pt. At the W extremity of hale pass
Eagle island
Small and wooded near the middle of Balch pass. Marked on its N end by a light. A state park
Drayton passage
Between key peninsula and Anderson island about 3 miles long in a N direction. N end connects to with Pitt pass and balch pass. S end joins W part of Nisqually reach
Steilacoom
On mainland about 9miles SSW of pt. D. ferry terminal with services to ketron and Anderson island.
Ketron Island
Just W of steilacoom. Small and narrow island which is privately owned. Heavily wooded with bluff shore. Large gravel pit and pier extending out from shore just SE of the island on mainland
Nisqually reach
Trends S and W around Anderson island. S shore is occupied for nearly 1 mile offshore by Nisqually flats, the delta formed by Nisqually river. The flats are soft mud and bare at low water. Two lights mark the N edge of the flats.
Anderson island
Just south of McNeil island separate by balch pass to the north and Nisqually reach to the S. Wooded and serviced by Steilacoom ferry. Lyle pt on S tip is marked by a light
Devils head
S point on key peninsula, 280ft tall and heavily wooded. Marked by a light off it’s south tip
Johnson pt
2 miles W of devils head, 90ft high and marked by a light off the sand spot at end of the point
