What is gender inequality?
Occurs in low income countries and when people are treated differently and given different opportunities because of their gender

The state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions
Poverty is often measured by income levels and access to basic needs.
When is poverty said to exist?
When people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs
Basic needs typically include food, shelter, and clothing.
How can gender equality increase development?
By promoting equal access to education
Equal access to education can lead to better job opportunities and economic growth.
What can breaking down gender stereotypes improve?
The skills of women and girls in the workplace
This can lead to greater economic participation and productivity.
What is empowerment in the context of gender equality?
People becoming more confident and comfortable in their gender.

Define development.
The process of becoming better or improving
Development can refer to economic growth, social improvements, or governance enhancements.
What does it mean if a country is developing?
It could be becoming wealthier or more unbiased
Development can also involve improvements in infrastructure and public services.
What aspects of life can development improve?
Life quality and expectancy in that country
Higher life expectancy is often associated with better healthcare, education, and economic stability.
What is Economic Development??
The level of a country’s wealth and standard of living. Economic shows different levels of development through the way they spend money.
What is social development??
The level of access to services and the wellbeing of people. Social development shows different levels of development through healthcare and education. If a country lacks this, they may have a bad life quality.
What is a development indicator??
•urbanisation
•higher birth rate
•population increase
•high literacy rate
•longer life expectancy
What is political development??
The stability of the government (how effectively the country is run) and the freedom and rights of the people who live there. If a country has poor development, it may not be run properly,correctly or having an opinion (and voicing it) can lead to arrest.
