Because most people are farmers who live in sall villages and work long hours in the fields. ecause they have the best farmland.

Why has laos remained so poor?
Because it is undeveloped it has few roads no railroads, and limited electricity. The economy is based on farming but good farmland is limited. Most people are subsistence farmers, meaning they grow just enough for their families.
