Isthmus
A narrow piece of land joining two larger bodies of land.
Peninsula
A narrow piece of land projecting into the sea.
Gulf
An area of water on and lying within a curved coastline.
Strait
A passage of water connecting two larger bodies of water.
River
A large stream of natural origin that flows into a larger body of water.
Bay
Any small body of water set off from a larger body.
Tributary
Small rivers and streams that feed and flow into a larger river.
Island
An area of land surrounded by water.
Canyon
A valley with steep wall, usually cut by a river into the rock.
Archipelago
Water containing several islands.
Plateau
A large area of elevated land that is level or nearly level on top.
Valley
The land between hills or mountains sometimes with a river.
Canal
A narrow man-made water way used for irrigation navigation and drainage.
River Delta
The triangle shaped plain at the mouth of a river formed when sediment is deposited by flowing water.
River Mouth
The point where a river empties and ends its course.
