Q

What is hydraulic action?

A

Hydraulic action is the force of the river against the banks that can cause air to be trapped in cracks. The pressure weakens the banks and gradually wears it away.

16
Q

What is plucking in glaciation process?

A

Plucking is when melt water from a glacier freezes to the base rock and lumps of cracked and broken rock. When the ice advances downhill, rock is plucked from the back wall.

17
Q

What is freeze-thaw in glaciation process?

A

Freeze-thaw is when water settles into cracks in the rock, then freezes and expands. This puts pressure on the surrounding rock. As it thaws, the pressure is released. As this repeats, rocks break away.

18
Q

What impacts would there be if the world does not have any ice?

A

It means that there would be increased water levels that goes up on to our land.
