Geometry Flashcards
(24 cards)
Right Angle
EQUALS 90 degrees.
Acute Angle
LESS THAN 90 degrees.
Obtuse Angle
MORE THAN 90 degrees.
A square is…
A four sided figure with all sides equal in length.
A rectangle is…
A four sided figure with two length equals and two width equals.
The three angles inside a triangle…
Always equal 180 degrees, no matter what type of triangle!
A right triangle has…
One 90 degree corner.
An equalateral triangle…
Has all three sides equal and all three angles equal.
An isosceles triangle…
Has two sides the same length.
An acute triangle…
Has no angle 90 degrees or more.
An obtuse triangle…
Has one angle greater than 90 degrees.
A straight line is…
180 degrees
A circle is…
360 degrees
The diameter…
Is a line that divides a circle in half.
The radius…
Is a line that runs from the center of a circle, to the outside of a circle.
Perimeter
The around the outside of figure with straight sides.
The perimeter formula is
P =2L + 2W
The circumference of a circle…
Is the distance around the outside of a circle.
The formula of the circumference of a circle is…
C- PI D (or) Pi times the diameter.
What is Pi?
Pi (π), the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet, is used to represent the most widely known mathematical constant. By definition, pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. In other words, pi equals the circumference divided by the diameter (π = c/d).
Point
A location on an object or a position in space.
Line
A connected set of points that extends without end in two directions.
Line Segment
Two points (end points) and the straight path between them.
Ray
Part of a line that extends in one direction.
