what was the SA and why did hitler and himmler feel threatened by it?
A nprivate army for the nazis that was very loyal to Ernst Röhm, they felt threatened due to this loyalty and the power it gave to Röhm
what was the night of the long knives and when did it occur?
The night where the top 100 Sa leaders were called together and arrested, and Röhm along with others were killed (this was legal due to the enabling act). 30th June 1934
who important was killed during the night of the long knives ?
Ernst Röhm, Von Schleicher, Gregor Strasser and Von kahl. (a fair amount of von papens staff too)
what was the SS ?
Schtzstaffel or black shirts were Hitlers loyal guards who had to be fit and promote the aryan race
what was the SD?
Sicherheitsdienst, uniformed police force that spied and monitored opposition.
what was the gestapo?
secret police force that looked for criticism of hitler or the nazi regime. used phone tapping and could arrest without trial and send people to concentration camps.
