Changed currency (hyper-inflation) from marks to rentenmark. Restart reperation payments to help allies in debt. Join league of nations so Germany would look equal.

What was the problems that faced the Wiemar Republic?

A

German people elected new parliament the Riechstag January 1919. Germany had to pay reperations (£6.6 million) over time. 1923 Germany stopped paying reperations. French government sent troops at Ruhr to take industrial production. No money, hyper-inflation.

A

A

A communist country based on a state run economy with decisions based on what is good for society not individual profit. There was a 1 party state (totalitarian) so no need for any election.

A

What was the Marshall plan?

A

American politicians believed that communism gained ground in countries for people who were poor and struggling. The marshall plan aimed to give millions of dollars to Europe. USA hoped that if eastern Europe was lost to communism i would help the west making them stronger.

A

In 1947, president Truman made a speech, which he said that the USA would help everywhere who were trying to keep their political freedom and who felt threatened by communism.

A

The iron curtain was a border in the world map, splitting the east (communist) side and the west (capitalist) side.

A

Its a race to have the most powerful weapons quicker than another country for example USSR and USA.

What was a “puppet” government?

A

Where countries like Poland had free speech suppressed and non communist parties were banned. Other countries too like Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria all had the same treatment by the USSR.

What was the Berlin Blockade?

A

This was where Stalin controlled half of Berlin (East) and prevented any items being transported in and out of Berlin. This was to make them weak.
