What is the gift gain and loss basis of the donee?

Answer 1

The GAIN BASIS is the adjusted basis of the donor. If the donor is dead, the gain basis is the FMV at the date of death.
The LOSS BASIS is the lower of the gain basis of the donor or FMV at the date of the gift.
