Q

define: veiling reflections

A

caused by specular reflection off a surface you’re viewing - can do something about!
-affect FORWARD scatter (on their way to the retina)

Q

what part of eye is reponsible for the MOST ocular scatter? followed by which other two?

Q

what are the two mechanisms of intraocular scatter? WHICH is wavelength dependent? Is that d/t SMALL or LARGE particles in oc media?

A

rayleigh: WAVELENGTH-DEP. - small particles
mie: not wavelength dep. forward may or may not equal backward scatter (scatter by LARGE particles)

Q

Which type of wavelength (short or long) scatter more as you age? What color?

A

long - red. Less pigment as you age = more scatter (and hence more disability glare) as you age
