What is a Rocks glass used for?
Used for 2 oz. drinks served “on the rocks” (liquor over ice, not mixed). Common for Martinis, Manhattans, and two-liquor drinks. Fill completely with ice.
What is a Bucket/Highball glass used for?
Larger than rocks glass, used for “and” drinks (e.g., rum & coke, gin & tonic). Avoid juices. Fill completely with ice, leaving ¼ traveling room.
What is a Collins glass used for?
Used for mixed drinks with juices (e.g., Tequila Sunrise, Sex on the Beach). Taller than highball glass. Fill completely with ice.
What is a Cocktail/Stemmed glass used for?
For drinks served “straight up” or “up” (chilled, no ice). Hold by the stem. No straws or ice.
What is a Pint/Tall glass used for?
Often used for beer or tall mixed drinks like teas and lemonades. Also used for chilling and mixing.
What is a Shot glass used for?
Used to serve 1 oz. shots.
What is a Hurricane/Specialty glass used for?
Specialty glass for tropical and exotic drinks. Substitute with Collins or Pint glass if unavailable.
What is a Wine glass used for?
Used to drink and taste wine. Composed of three parts: bowl, stem, and foot.

Flute or coupe glass used for champagne and sparkling wines.
What is a Snifter glass used for?
Short-stemmed glass with wide bottom, narrow top. Used for aged brown spirits like brandy and cognac.

Used for hot drinks such as coffee.
What does “On the Rocks” mean?
Build the drink over ice.

What does “Neat” mean?
Drink served at room temperature with no ice.

Shooters layered based on density of liquors/liqueurs.

What is the “Roll” technique?
Used to stir or mix a drink with a tin.
What is the “Up and Over” technique?
Shake and pour over fresh ice.
