Glaucoma Flashcards

1
Q

mechanism of glaucoma

A

ocular tension destroys optic nerve which eventually leads to vision loss; tension caused by too much aqueous humor or poor trabecular meshwork function to filter fluid out

Q

mechanism of action w/glaucoma meds

A

prostaglandin analogs increase function of trabecular meshwork function to filter fluid out “help pee out humor”

beta-adrenergic antagonists decrease production of aqueous humor “β”

alpha-adrenergic agonists do both of above “α”

Q

administration of glaucoma meds
