What is glaucoma?
A
Group of diseases causing damage to the optic nerves due to raised intra-ocular pressure
Classically associated with:
- Optic disc cupping
- Visual field loss
Types:
- Primary open angle = most common
- Acute angle closure = opthalmic emergency
- Secondary glaucoma = due to othr condition e.g. uveitis
- Congenital glaucoma = due to abnormality of the eye from birth
