Q

What’s a global village

A

Global village is the idea that the world is becoming a much smaller and globalised area, for example
people can now communicate without even seeing each other from across the world, apps such as
Twitter and Instagram mean that it’s possible to talk to people miles away from you, an example is
Carter’s Cybercity, which shows how digital communication has formed relationships with new people
and can access each other in a globalised way, increasing their social capital. It’s now argued, we spend
more time in relationships online than offline. McLuhan argues we live in a global village.
