Helped to recruit people from other countries and their presence more feared (e.g posting videos of people being beheaded)

Lash and Urry: companies now move production to areas with lower labour costs and less health and safety regulations.

Adds to the insecurity and uncertainty of life in late modernity.

As crime spreads past borders, it is not always clear who’s jurisdiction it falls into.
How has globalization impacted more inequality?
Those working in developed and developing countries are open to even more uncertainty and relative deprivation.

- Dangerous topic to study.
- Most likely has more than a 70% hidden figure of crime.
- Removes focus from local crime.
