What happened in the first era of globalization?
Globalization 1.0 started around1500 when Columbus set sail and lasted until about 1800. This era is characterized and defined by countries globalization. Due to this fact it was important how much innovative technology and manpower your country has in comparision to other countries
Second era
. Globalization 2.0 lasted from about 1800 to the year 2000 and was interrupted by the Two World Wars. This was the era when the world continued to shrink, when multinational companies increasingly went global for markets and labor, and when technological innovations continued to reduce transportation, communication, and production costs.
Third era
In about the year 2000 Friedman says, that the beginning of globalization 3.0 started and it’s continuing through this day. This third era is all about the world coming closer together. Only this era is neither characterized by countries globlizing nor companies globalizing but it’s built around individual characters
