Q

patho

A
  • usually in children but not restricted
  • Type III HS (viral or bacterial trigger) –> Ab-Ag complex deposited in glomerular capillaries
  • proceeded by pharyngeal or dermal infection (7-12 days)
  • Ab-Ag complex attaches to capillary walls –> blocking pores for filtration –> glomerular filtration impeded –> dec GFR –> acute nephritic syndrome

Q

mesangial cells

A
  • Specialized cells that cover 30% of glomerular capillaries
  • Contract basement membrane of endothelium of glomerular capillaries –> dec SA of basement membrane –> dec GFR
