What is this?
Macule
Flat lesion <0.5cm in diameter with an area of colour change
Patch >0.5cm in diameter with an area of colour change
Papule - a palpable lesion <0.5cm in diameter
Nodule - a papule >0.5cm
Flat topped raised area with diameter >0.5cm
Vesicle - fluid filled lesion with a diameter <0.5cm
Bullae - a fluid filled lesion with diameter > 0.5cm
A small fluid-filled vesicular lesion but yellow and contianing neutrphils
Abscess: a fluid filled lesion containing neutrophils > 0.5cm in dimaeter
Scale
epidermal cells produced by abnomral keratinisation which have died and then shed
Crust
Dried collection of serum and cellular exudates
Ulcer
A discontinuation of an epitherlial lining extending into the epidermis/ dermis
Fissure
A lineral discontnuation of epithethelial lining with sharp margin, can extend to dermis
Atrophy
A thinning in the epidermis/dermis which in turn leads to depression of the skin
Lichenified
thickening of the epidermis which may be caused by scrathing
