What is the Torah?
The law of God as revealed to Moses and recorded in the first five books of the Hebrew Scriptures, also known as the Pentateuch.
What is a Covenant?
A contract between God and his people. An agreement/promise about commitment and fidelity between God and His people.
What is Morality?
What is considered right and wrong, dictated by God. To live according to God’s will and achieve true happiness.
What is Vocation?
The divine call from God to serve Him and live out their lives that are ultimately aimed at fulfilling God’s plan.
What are the Corporal Acts of Mercy?
Charitable actions that address the physical and material needs of others.
What is Vice?
Immoral and evil behaviour.
What is Virtue?
Moral excellence, goodness, righteousness. They are habits you develop over time.
What does it mean to be Devout?
Having or showing deep religious faith.
What is Hebrew?
A collection of sacred texts that form the scripture of Judaism.
What does Profound mean?
Something that is deep and intense. Ideas, feelings, or experiences that have meaning and impact.
What is Flouting?
Contempt of a rule, law, or authority. Acting in a way that openly disobeys guidelines or expectations.
Who are Jewish Christians?
Individuals who follow Jesus Christ while maintaining Jewish heritage and practices.
What is Mosaic Law?
A set of laws and commandments given by God to the Israelites through Moses.
What is a Worldview?
A set of beliefs and ideas about how the world works and what is important in life.
What does Secular mean?
Non-religious.
What is a Secular Worldview?
A non-religious understanding of the world, without religious attribution.
What role does Religion play?
Religion gives us a pathway to follow and provides a way of life, serving as a moral guide and source of hope.
What is Good?
The full realization refers to reading one’s full potential through values like hope, justice, and the common good.
What is Evil?
Catholics believe God does not create evil; it is a result of free will and the absence of God.
What is Hope?
A theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises.
What does Existential refer to?
A form of existentialism that emphasizes the subjective aspects of human existence as creatures of God.
What is Faith?
A belief and trust in God based on good evidence but without total proof.
What is Death?
The separation of the soul from the body, a consequence of sin, but also a transition to eternal life with God.
What is Life?
To love God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself, ultimately striving for union with God in heaven.
