The power is given to the people, the citizens of the nation

Every citizen is given an equal vote in government, and together, make all of the important decisions

Legislative, Judicial, Executive
Autocracy
One person is in power
Monarchy
A king or queen inherits their power and position through their family line
Absolute monarchy
The monarch holds total control over the country
Constitutional monarchies
The monarch holds some power, but is restricted by the constitution
Dictatorship
There is no sharing power with other authorities
Totalitarian
One political party is in power and people are forced to do what the government tells them
Representative democracy
Where citizens elect (vote for or choose) lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
Indirect democracy
Where citizens elect (vote for or choose) lawmakers to represent their interests in the government
How does a presidential democracy work?
People directly vote for the countries leader and legislature. The legislature makes laws and the president approves or denies the law.
How does parliamentary democracy work?
People only vote for their legislature. The political party that had the most seats gets to choose the Prime Minister.
