a major religious law passed by elizabeth. It gave her control over the church but the title governor was chosen to avoid catholics who believed only the pope could be head of the church.

that the pope no longer had authority
what is the book of common prayer?
a set prayer book that contained the words for church services like communion, baptisms, marriages and funerals. It aimed to standardise churches and make sure all churches including catholics followed the same protestant practices
