What is a phrase?

A

A phrase is a group of words, which form a unit of meaning within a sentence.
EG: “I go to town, at two o’clock, every day, on the 46A bus.

What is phrasing?

A

Phrasing is the dividing of sentences into groups of words, each group having a
meaning in it self and being of a length to be spoken on one breath.

Why is phrasing important?

A

Phrasing, or breaking up the sentence in to units of meaning, helps us to make sense
when we are reading aloud.

What are the four main rules of reading aloud?

A

Presentation(how u hold the book/being able to turn the page)
Announcing the title and the author
Loud clear and expressive speech
Eye contact with the audience.
