Morphology: G negative cocci in pairs, identified in CSF

Virulence: capsule, DIC

Illness:

  • # 2 cause of meningitis #1 in school children
  • can cause 2ndary tissue necrosis

Prevention: Meningococcal conjugate vaccine/Group B meningococcal vaccine

Virulence: attachment

Illness: Gonorhea

  • male=urethritis
  • female= pelvic inflammatory dz and/or endocervix
  • septic arthritis

Transmission:STD

Treatment: need Beta lactamase test
