What are the steps for obtaining a smear?

A
  1. Draw 2 dime sized circles on back of slide and label each circle
  2. Prepare the smear
  3. Flame the loop until red hot and let cool
  4. Pass tube through flame and use loop to obtain broth culture.
  5. Pass loop through flame again before recapping tube.
  6. Spread culture on 1st circle of slide. Repeat process to have 2-3 cultures on slide.
  7. Let smear dry for 30 minutes
