Q

What can Anaerobic gram +ve be?

A

Cocci or bacilli

17
Q

What is an anaerobic cocci?

A

Anaerobic streptococci

18
Q

What is an anaerobic bacilli?

A

Clostridium spp

19
Q

What can clostridium spp cause?

A

Cl tetani (tetanus)-causes uncontrolled muscle spasm due to loss of inhibition at nmj
Cl perfringes (gas gangrene)-found in soil and normal commensal in human faeces and can contaminate food.
Cl difficle (diarrhoea)-spread via spores and is difficult to culture-can’t use antibiotic that disrupts normal gut flora
