President Herbert Hoover wanted companies not to cut jobs and increase the production of products, but people not could afford to buy the products, and then unemployment increased.

Americans felt like the war was in Europe and did not affect them, they wanted to remain neutral and not get involved

Why did people end up in Hooverville?
Millions of families lost their jobs and depleted their savings, they also lost their homes, so they lived in Carboard boxes.
