Who are the Olympians?
the 12 main gods in Greek mythology, live on mount Olympus
includes Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, Aphrodite, Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Hephaestus, Hermes, and either Hestia or Dionysus
What is Greek Mythology?
A collection of myths from Ancient Greece that tells us about religion

Belief or practice like temples, wedding/birth/death rituals

Story/lore to explain nature or the origin of something including rituals, explaining the how and why of something
Why do we have religion/myths?
To explain natural phenomena, human behavior, serve as a moral compass, and reinforce societal norms
Why Greek Mythology?
known as the cradle of western civilization, and its culture is widespread throughout Europe
Challenges in studying it
passed down orally for thousands of years, and many of the Greek and Roman tales don’t agree

Who are the four Titans and why do they have that name?
Gaia, Eros, Tartarus, and Uranus. They are the first gods to be created, and they were named that to reflect their incredible strength
