Q

What is the formula for hydrostatic pressure?

A

P = γ_w × h

Where:
P = hydrostatic pressure (kN/m²)
γ_w = unit weight of water (10 kN/m³)
h = water depth (m)

Q

What are the three groundwater zones?

A

Vadose Zone – Above the groundwater table, pores contain air and water.
Capillary Fringe – Water rises due to capillary forces.
Saturated Zone – Pores fully filled with water below the groundwater table.
