Mode of therapy

A

Activity groups - used for patients who are unsuitable for other groups e.g. LD, chronic psychosis

Support groups - peer support in LD, chronic illness, carers

Problem-focussed groups - assertiveness training, alcohol or drug dependence, sexual deviancy

Psychodynamic therapy - aims for lasting change through modifcation of personality

Behavioural groups - modifcation of dysfunctional behaviour e.g. anxiety, phobias
