Hadith set 1 (1-5)

Question 1

1- ‘Religion is sincerity.’ We said: ‘To whom?’ The Prophet said: ‘To Allah, his Book, his Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and to their common people

+“indeed sincerity leads to piety and indeed piety leads to paradise”

-nasiha means sincere advice
-Islam is based on sincerity
-Rejection of shirk
-believing in Quran as Allah’s word
-Muhammad SAW the last messenger of Allah

-genuinely caring for others & helping

-Sincerity to Quran by reciting & understanding & implementing & teaching it

-helping, respecting, guiding, and being kind to other people
-Prophet SAW companions example of sincerity to leaders

Question 2

2- None of you believes until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself.

Answer 2

+“believers are a single brotherhood” (Allah established this brotherhood)
a)
-concern for others + sincerity to Islam
-Muslims must care for each other/concern for each other (especially less fortunate)
-ProphetSAW stressed the importance of unity and brotherhood
-the source of good for others

-wanting best for others
-being genuinely happy/sad for them
-responding to the needs of others
-eg wishing good health for your own family so wish the same for others
-don’t take pleasure out of other’s misery
-ProphetSAW established brotherhood between muhajireen and Ansar
-present-day: giving refuge to those escaping oppression/ raising money to help those in need

Question 3

3- Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbor, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest

-Abu Talha and his wife (gave all food to immigrant guests despite having barely enough to feed their own kids)
+verse revealed: “They give preference to other first. whoever is saved from the greed of his own soul will be successful.”

Question 4

4- A man asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace): Do you think that if I perform the obligatory prayers, fast in Ramadan, treat as lawful that which is lawful and treat as forbidden that which is forbidden, and do nothing further, I shall enter paradise? He said: Yes

P+”Avoid what I have forbidden you to do and do to your utmost what I have ordered you to do”

-the simplicity of Islam
-clear rules on lawful and unlawful that must be obeyed to secure Allah’s pleasure
-fulfilling prayer and other rights (if possible) to Allah and rights to others and differentiating between haram and halal is obligatory
-zakat and hajj are only needed if the person has the means to fulfill them

-obeying Allah & practicing pillars
-sincerity & punctuality in prayer
-fasting
-mindful of haram and halal (eg of haram to avoid)
-doing sunnah acts earn greater rewards (fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, waking up to pray tahajud)

Question 5

5- every person every joining must perform a charity every day the sun rises. Acting justly between two people is a charity, helping a man with his mount by lifting him onto it or hoisting his belongings onto it is a charity, every step you take to prayers is a charity, and removing a harmful thing from the road is charity
