16
Q

Differential diagnosis when you see Spherocytes

A

AIHA
HS
Drug induced
Infection with C perfingens
Snake venoms
HDNB

17
Q

Further tests for HS

A

To differentiate from AIHA do a DAT and an EMA
HS is positive for EMA and AIHA is positive for a DAT
ALSO check haptoglobin, bilirubin, reticulocytes, LDH

18
Q

Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia blood film

A

Polychromasia
Spherocytes - more irregular shape
NRBC
Rare - howell jolly body

19
Q

WBC in AIHA

A

Leucocytosis

20
Q

Differential and Tests for AIHA

A

Same as HS

21
Q

Schistocytes are found in

A

TTP
Mechanical haemolysis
Burns
Drugs toxins

22
Q

Stomatocytosis found in

A

HS
liver disease
Alcohol

23
Q

Where are howell jolly bodies seen

A

Post splenectomy
Megaloblastic anaemia
Sickle cell maybe
