What is Hajj?

A

Hajj is the Muslim pilgrimage, compulsory for Muslims to undertake at least once in their lifetime if they are healthy and can afford it. It is the 5th pillar of Islam and must take place within the month of Dhu’l-Hija.

A

God told the prophet Ibrahim to take his wife Hajira and son Isma’il to Arabia, where Hajira searched for water and the Zamzam well was created. Ibrahim was commanded to build the Ka’aba as a shrine dedicated to Allah.
