Q

Gulf Stream key facts

A

10,000km long
2m/s - 100,000,000m/s cubed of water to the uk
Water heats at the equator to 30 degree c
Stops at Norway, Greenland and Iceland
Species depend on it
Our climate would be 5-10 degree c colder without it
Could stop due to global warming

17
Q

Why is eastern UK cooler in the winter than the west

A

Because there is a warm current near the west and there is a Gulf Stream on the east of the uk

18
Q

Global circulation is

A

The theory that explains new true atmospheres it operates in a series of 3 cells each side of the equator.

19
Q

Why are places near the equator much warmer than the poles?

A

A combination of curvature of the earth, angle of the sun in the sky and the layer of atmosphere surrounding the earth.
