What are the three zones of a chemical incident called? Give a brief description of
them and levels of PPE.
HOT - area of immediate release, most contaminants.
GTS / Descretion of OIC, Gauntlets, BA.
WARM ZONES - area of spreaded release. Runs to border of cold zone where decontamination begins (MDU, MD4 for PRPS, or Tyvek suits.
COLD ZONE - area of zero contaminants. Clean area.
Full fire kit, Tyvek suits, half masks, gloves.

What are the three stages of Firefighter decontamination? Give a brief description of each
Emergency Decon - Quick way to decon Firefighter, hosereel, brush, Buckets, Solution
Stage 1 Decon - H set up, impovised shower, controlled decon, Retension of water
Asbestos Decon.
Dry + wet methods used to contain particles.
Stage 2 Decon - Full MDU for mass decontamination
Hazard Warning Panels. What are they and where can they be found?
They are a panel of information, indicating essential details relating to the substance contained.
Can be found on transportation vehicles, trailers, equipment/barrels.
Explain the elements on the following panel. What is the EAC and where can
we get the information to interpret them.
What does the X mean on an ADR panel?
Reacts dangerously with water

What are the 4 pieces of PPE required by disrobing officers who undertake Asbestos decontamination?
Tyvek suits
Half mask
Gloves
Boots/over boots
List three ways Hazardous Materials may be transported.

Name four things that the Decontamination Officer should consider when setting up a decontamination area?
Upwind
Uphill
Far enough away from hot zone
Cordons in sight
Name the different types of Asbestos decontamination.

Lithium-ion batteries. Where might we encounter them? Explain what is meant by, thermal runaway and how we might counter it operationally.
WHERE:
Electric or hybrid cars.
Electric Scooters.
Lorries / Buses.
Phones / E-cigarettes.
Thermal Runaway is:
An Exothermic reacton between the cells. When one cell is involved
it reacts with the next cell until every cell is depleted.
Deal with:
Copious amounts a water, Controlled burn
Contain water run off
Cobra (not in policy yet)
