Tell me about the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and what is in it?
- Primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in the UK
- Duty to every employer to ensure health and safety/welfare at work of all employees
- Policed by Health and Safety Executive HSE (fines and imprisonment)
- Must report injuries (1995)
- Must carry out Risk Assessment (1999)
- Defines a Hazard

What is a safe person?
An individual who assumes responsibility for their behaviour, their colleagues and others while at work

The policy consists of 3 points:
- Statement of intent (describes the importance of this H+S)
- Details of Structure - People involved in H+S in the business.
