What is the function of Carbohydrates?
Provides the body with energy
What is the function of Protein?
Growth and repair of muscles
What is the function of Fats?
Keeps us warm and protects our vital organs
What is the function of Vitamins & Minerals?
Helps support our immune system
What is the function of Dairy?
Strengthens teeth and bones
What is fibre good for?
Helps our digestion system
Carbohydrate can be broken down into 2 categories. What are they?
Starch and Sugar
Fat can be broken down into 2 categories. What are they?
Saturated and unsaturated
What are bad fats called?
Saturated fats
What are good fats called?
Unsaturated fats
What food products are classed as saturated fats?
Chocolates, sweets, biscuits, crisps. Many fast food takeaways etc
List food products that would be classed as carbohydrates
Potatoes, rice, pasta, yams etc
List food products that would be classed as protein
Red meat i.e. Steak, Mince, Lamb, Beef, Poultry i.e. Chicken, Turkey
List food products that would be classed as vitamins & minerals.
Any fruit and vegetables
