What does carbohydrates do?
It Is the main source of energy.
Why do people eat lipids (fat)?
For energy and instulation.
Why people eat proteins?
For growth and repair.
What does water do?
Hydrates the body.
Why do we eat vitamins and minerals?
To keep us healthy.
What is the formula to work out the amount o energy in food samples?
energy=volume of water x4.2 x temperature difference. (J= cm3x oC x oC)
What solutions would u add to a protein and what colour would it change to?
Sodium Hydroxide and Copper Sulfate. Purple
What would you add to starch and what colour would it change to?
Iodine. Black/Blue
What would you add to sugar and what colour would it change to?
Benedictus solution. Red/orange.
What would you add to fat (lipids) and what colour would it change to?
Alcohol/ water.
Cloudy.
What is the Esophagus’ purpose?
It is a muscular tube, food is pushed down into the stomach.
What does the mouth do?
Breaks down food and triggers saliva.
What does an anus do?
The anus is the last part of the digestive system and where u poo.
What does Fibre do?
Provides bulk to food
What does the large intestine do?
It absorbs water, it is a muscular tube that connects to the small intestine to the rectum.
What does the small intestine do?
The small intestine is a long muscular tube that breaks down food using enzymes released by the pancreas and bile from the liver.
What is an enzyme?
Produced in Pancreas and small intestines. Amylase are also produced.
What does the gland?
Protease are also produced in the stomach.
What does amylase?
Breaks down carbohydrates into starch to sugar. (glucose)
What does protease?
Breaks down fats into glucose and fatty acids.
What is groups on the periodic table?
Columns.
What are periods on the periodic table?
Rows.
What are physical properties on periodic table?
For example: Size, Shape, Colour, Type, Boiling point etc.
What is a chemical property?
For example: Flammability, react ones.
