How is hep B spread?
IV drug use

Who is at risk for hep B?
IV drug users
Health workers
Sexually promiscuous
How can hep B be diagnosed?
HBsAg (surface antigen present for 1-6 months
HBeAg present 1-3 months after acute infection
What do HBcAg antibodies show?
Past infection
What do HBsAg antibodies show?
Vaccination
What is the management for hep B?
Supportive
Avoid alcohol
Is there a vaccine for hep B?
Yes

RNA flavivirus

Blood
IV drug use
Sexual contact
How is hep C diagnosed?
Raised LFTs
Anti-HCV
How is hep C managed?
Inteferon-a + ribavirin

No
What is hep D?
Incomplete RNA virus - only exists with hep B
What is hep E?
RNA virus - similar to hep A
