Causes of blood stasis

A

Trauma-> Obstructs qi & blood flow
Qi stasis-> leads to blood stag (gen’ly (LV Qi stag)
Deficiency -> reduces resources slow the blood
Blood coldness -> cold blood stagnation
Blood heat-> thickens and coagulates the blood
Phlegm/damp stagnation-> stagnates the blood

Works best for pain when has been vinegar processed; given to Mary

  1. Moves qi and blood, relieves pain, used as analgesic: gyno stuff, arthritis (bi Zheng), chest/abdominal pain, trauma.
  2. Reduce swelling, promote healing externally: helps pass sores to surface: mouth, gums, throat, ext sores, abscesses, gynecology

MR: cancer cell apoptosis (cell death) = anti cancer

Caution: sensitive stomach= N/V

  1. Moves blood (a bit mote than Ru Xiang) : same as frankincense
  2. Reduces swelling, promotes healing: same as frankincense

MR: cancer cell apoptosis- when theres blood stasis (not generally) ex: fibroids that turn cancerous

Caution: can irritate stomach

  1. Both move blood: gyno stuff: menorrhea, trauma (alcohol fried)
  2. Only Huai Niu Xi strengthens sinews and joints: (sweet property)= Lower body, LV, KI tonification (salt fry): soreness/pain in muscles and joints, low back/knee pain (add Shu Di Huang + Du Zhong),
  3. Both: Guide downwards (bitter property), directs herbs or fire or blood downward, upper jiao heat- drains out lower jiao: epistaxis, toothache, mouth ulcers, dizziness, HTN, LV yang rising +/- pus
  4. Chuan Niu Xi only: clears damp heat from lower jiao: UTIs (“re” =heat or “xue” =blood): stones, low back pain, hematuria, painful urination
