Deianira and Hercules are on their way back to Tiryns when they come across a river to deep for Deianira to cross. Hercules crosses while Nessus takes Deianira.

He soaked it into his tunic which he gave to Deianira, who thought it was a gift
How does Hercules die
Deianira think Hercules is no longer in love with her, so she gives him the cloak as she thinks he will fall back in love with her. The cloak poisons Hercules, who sets up a funeral pyre whilst dying
