Q

What is a hip scouring/quadrant test?

A

Pt lying supine. Hip fully flexed. Apply pressure to the knee avoiding putting too much pressure on the patella. ADduct, keep force and move to external rotation.
This can be done in round the clock bouncing. Depending on if there is pain and where it is, could be indicative of where there might be a problem.

Q

How do you perform a long axis distraction of the hip?

A

Pt in Supine. Lift leg 30 degrees, abduct 30 degrees and externally rotate. Hold just above the malleolus with thenar and hypothenar. Be in a squat stance and pull backward with straight arm.

Q

How do you do a short axis distraction?

A

Pt in Supine. Lift leg 30 degrees, abduct 30 degrees and externally rotate. Hold just above the knee, knee bent and pt’s foot off the bed. Be in a squat stance and pull backward with straight arm.

Q

How do you perform a FABER test?

A

Pt is supine. Flexion of the hip, abduction and Externally rotate. Ankle just above the patients contralateral knee. Stabilise pt’s contralateral hip to stop hip tilt and pressure on pt’s knee that is bent. Looking for both knees to be level. If knee stays up with passive application, that is a positive result

Q

How do you perform a sacral thrust test?

A

pt is prone. Stand on the side of the pt’s pain. Using one hand place on base on S2 with fingers facing cranially. Use the other hand to place on top (similar to cpr). 3-6 High velocity thrusts with gradually increasing pressure. If this reproduces pt’s familiar pain this is a positive test
