Hip Flashcards
(8 cards)
Primary Hip Flexors
Iliopsoas, Rectus femoris, Sartorius, Tensor fascia latae
Primary Hip Extensors
Pectineus, Gluteus maximus, Adductor magnus (posterior head), Biceps femoris (long head)
External Rotation
By 6 deep external rotators of the hip working as one muscle
Internal Rotation
Many different muscles contribute
Femoroacetabular Impingement
Abnormal growth/deformity of the femur or acetabulum. causes butting together at the end of the range. can damage the cartilage of the Acetabulofemoral joint - risk factor for osteoarthritis. Higher risks in young people and athletic groups
Iliotibial Band Syndrome
If the I-Band is tight - inflammation on the lateral aspect of the knee, friction between I-Band and the lateral condyle of the femur
Hamstring Sprain
Most common injury in football
Most non contact - during running
Hamstring Sprain Risk Factors
previous hamstring sprain
fatigue
strength imbalance
poor flexibility
