- lateral aspect bodies of T12-L5, transverse process of L1-L5 and intervertebral discs
- lesser trochanter

Action:
- Flexion of hip
What is the innervation of the psoas major?
innervation:
- Central rami of L2,L3,L3
What are the attachments of the iliacus muscle?
Attachments:
- iliac crest, iliac fossa, ala of sacrum, anterior sacroiliac ligaments
- lesser trochanter
What is the action of the iliacus muscle?
Action:
- Hip flexion, stabilisation of the hip joint
- iliopsoas is active in quiet standing
What nerve innervates the iliacus?
Innervation:
- femoral nerve
What are the attachments of the Psoas minor?
Attachments:
- lateral aspect bodies of T12-L1 and intervertebral disc
- pecten and iliopubic eminence
What is the action of the psoas minor?
Action:
- stabilisation of the thigh at the hip
What is the innervation of the psoas minor?
Action:
- Ventral rami of L1 and L2
What are the attachments of the gluteus maximus?
Attachments:
- posterior ilium, dorsal surface of sacrum and coccyx, sacrotuberous ligament
- gluteal tuberosity and iliotibial tract( lateral condyle of tibia)
Action of the gluteus maximus?
Action:
- Extension and lateral rotation of the thigh at the hip
What nerve innovates the gluteus maximus?
Innovation:
- inferior gluteal nerve
What are the attachments of the gluteus medius?
Attachments:
- external iliac surface between anterior and posterior gluteal lines
- lateral surface of greater trochanter
What is the action of gluteus medius?
Action:
- abduct and medically rotate thigh
- maintain stability of pelvic during gait
What nerve innovated the gluteus medius?
Innervation:
- Superior gluteal nerve

Attachments:
- ASIS + anterior iliac crest
- illiotibial tract
What is the action of the tensor fascia Lata?
Action:
- abducts and medically rotates thigh
- flexes thigh

Innervation:
- superior gluteal nerve
What are the attachments of the piriformis?
Attachments:
- anterior sacral surface and sacrotuberous ligament
- superior border of greater trochanter
What is the action of the piriformis?
Action:
- laterally rotates extended thigh
- abducts flexed thigh
- maintains apposition of the femoral head and acetabulum
What is the innervation piriformis?
Innervation:
- anterior rami
What are the attachments of the obturator internus?
Attachments:
- internal surface of obturator foremen and membrane
- medial surface of greater trochanter
What is the action of the obturator internus?
Action:
- laterally rotates extended femur
- abducts flexed femur
- maintains apposition of head of the femur and acetabulum

Innervation:
- nerve to obturator internus
