A

Congenital abnormality whereby there is improper innervation of the large intestine, extending from rectum, sometimes proximally into colon

A

Clinical presentation of Hirschsprung’s disease?

A
  • Failure to pass stool in first 48 hours of life
  • Abdominal distension
  • Bile-stained vomit
  • Rectal examination: narrowed segment. On withdrawal of finger a gush of liquid stools and flatus
